In the Atlantic region we will conduct 5 focus groups with staff nurses and managers and 5 interviews with new managers in June 2009. In 2010, we will distribute surveys to nurses from the 4 Maritime provinces. [more]

Developing a Safety Culture: Shared Assumptions and Interventions
Creating a Safety Culture (March 09-Feb 10)
COR&D, with the South Shore District Health Authority, received funding from WorkSafe BC to conduct a project to increase the Safety Culture among nursing staff.
Despite the presence of informed policies, training in effective procedures and availability of relevant technology, preventable injuries continue to occur. Anecdotal reports convey that safety practices on hospital units are not consistent with policies and procedures. This research project tested a workgroup intervention to enhance safety citizenship among nurses.
